Good Afternoon {{Constituent First Name}}:
As May begins, I’m filled with gratitude. Despite the ongoing challenges in refugee resettlement, including recent shifts at the national level, your care and commitment continue to light the way forward.
In April, one of the ten national resettlement agencies, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, announced it will conclude its agreements with the federal government for refugee and children’s services programs. This is a powerful reminder of just how much pressure our sector is under.
And yet—you’ve never wavered. Your notes, calls, visits, and financial contribution remind us every day why this work matters. Because of you, families continue to find safety, opportunity, and hope right here in Northwest Arkansas. Just this month, we celebrated two new babies in our refugee community—real symbols of new beginnings.
Over 100 donors helped us make NWA Gives a success. Every dollar raised fuels the vital work of welcoming and walking alongside our newest neighbors. Singer and song writer, Martin Kerr, came all the way from Canada for a joyful fundraising concert supporting our work here in town.
In April, our team showed up across Northwest Arkansas—from schools to bookstores, pop-up markets, and beyond. Thank you for inviting us to those spaces.
Thank you for walking with us. You inspire everything we do.
With deep appreciation,
Khalid Ahmadzai Senior Director of Community & Economic Development
