Dear {{Constituent First Name}}:

May has been a vibrant and meaningful month. Thanks to your encouragement and support, Canopy showed up in powerful ways, in art, in community, and in conversation.

We began the month at the Rooted in Faith Summit in Tulsa, hosted by One America Movement. We ended it with the Youth Art Show at the University of Arkansas, celebrating creativity and resilience through the eyes of young people. While each event was unique, all reminded us of the power of connection, especially in times when the news feels heavy.

In Tulsa, faith leaders from diverse traditions came together not to debate, but to build. They explored ways to connect their congregations without compromising their core beliefs. These moments are easy in hotel conference rooms, but the real test is carrying that spirit of unity into our streets, neighborhoods, and online spaces.

As a supporter of Canopy, you are part of a movement that treats community not just as a word, but as a commitment. A commitment to care, to show up, and to build bridges even when it is difficult.

We often hear about caring, civil, and engaged communities. At Canopy, we see those words come to life every day. In families who welcome new neighbors, congregations who bring meals, volunteers who give their time, and donors who give from the heart. Whether rooted in faith or guided by compassion, YOU are part of a community leaning into the common good.

I also want to invite you to be part of what is next. World Refugee Day is coming up on June 20 and 21, and we hope you will join us for celebration, learning, and connection. Event details are below.

In mid-June, we will also launch a Matching Campaign to double the impact of your donation. It is a powerful opportunity to give toward building a welcoming home for all. More information will be shared soon.

As many of you prepare for summer travels, we are reminded of the words of Ibn Battuta, the Moroccan scholar and explorer, who said, “Traveling, it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”

Wherever this summer takes you, may it be filled with meaningful moments. And if you travel, may you return with stories worth sharing.

With deep appreciation,

Khalid Ahmadzai
Senior Director of Community and Economic Development
