Greetings {{Constituent First Name}}:

Happy Labor Day. I hope you had a restful day.

As the last two weeks of August passed, my thoughts kept returning to the fall of Kabul four years ago. Since 2021, we have welcomed more than 270 Afghans here in Northwest Arkansas. Our friends at Catholic Charities in Little Rock have also welcomed Afghan families in and around Central Arkansas.

Through The Long Welcome Programs, we continue to serve our new neighbors as they rebuild their lives. We are able to do this work because of you. The dedication of our community to the cause of refugees continues to inspire us. Thank you for being part of this incredible tapestry of welcome.

I wrote a reflection on the past four years in a blog post, and I would like to invite you to take a few minutes to read it. Once again, thank you for opening your arms wide to welcome nearly 1,000 individuals to Northwest Arkansas over the past 9+ years.

Regards,

Khalid Ahmadzai
Senior Director of Partnerships

Chai and Chat

This fall, we are excited to launch “Chai & Chat” events, a simple way for friends, neighbors, volunteers, community partners, businesses, faith communities, and civic leaders to connect with our work.

The idea is simple: stop by, share a cup of chai, chat with staff and some of our new neighbors, and get to know Canopy on a deeper level. These open gatherings are a chance to learn about what we do, hear stories, build friendships, and experience the community of welcome together.

We believe Chai and Chat will create meaningful opportunities for our community to come together around the work of welcome.

Stay tuned for upcoming dates and locations!

Last but not least, we are so grateful for you and for the incredible community, near and far, whose generosity continues to uplift and sustain our work. Because of your support, families are finding stability, new neighbors are putting down roots, and lives are being changed every single day.

Whether you choose to give a one-time gift or support us monthly, your partnership makes a real difference.

We would love for you to continue this journey with us.
