Dear {{Constituent First Name}},
In November, we invited you to meet your neighbor by sharing the stories of people who make Northwest Arkansas home. From newcomers to the longest rooted residents, everyone has a story, and each one strengthens the fabric of our community.
Today, I am thinking of Melesa, waiting for her mom who is still in a refugee camp, and how we can stand with her and her children now and in the years ahead.
This year, we came together, supported one another, and accomplished so much. Together, we shared stories of resilience at 137 community events. We provided vital legal assistance to 768 clients, helping them apply for green cards, citizenship, and other immigration services. We connected 205 newcomers to our local workforce and provided care navigation to 54 new mothers. These efforts are the building blocks of a Northwest Arkansas where everyone belongs and the vision you help make possible.
But 2026 will bring new challenges. Recent federal changes have already revoked food assistance for refugees across Arkansas, and Medicaid eligibility will end for many next year. Access to citizenship resources is tightening just as the process itself becomes more complex, with higher fees and a more difficult exam. For families working hard to rebuild their lives, the path forward is becoming steeper.
This is why your support matters.
We are here today because of you, and we will be here tomorrow because of you too. Your generosity ensures that families like Melesa’s are not navigating these challenges alone. It protects the Long Welcome and preserves the legacy of a community that refuses to turn away.
As we close the year, I invite you to make a meaningful gift to Canopy NWA. Your end of year contribution strengthens our support for refugee families, safeguards essential programs, and helps keep Northwest Arkansas a place where everyone is welcomed with dignity and opportunity.
Please give today and help us meet this moment with compassion, courage, and a shared sense of community.
Warm holiday wishes,
Joanna Krause Executive Director
