Dear {{First Name}},
On April 18, 2016, Canopy NWA officially received its nonprofit designation, marking the beginning of a decade of welcoming people forced to flee their homes. As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on the heart, resilience, and community that have defined the past ten years and look ahead with hope.
While refugee resettlement has changed dramatically over the last 15 months, our mission remains the same: to welcome and equip newcomers to build new lives. At Canopy, this commitment is known as the Long Welcome, supporting families not only upon arrival, but as they pursue education, meaningful careers, homeownership, and deep connections within our community.
Stories like Safie’s remind us why this work matters. After years of separation and multiple travel cancellations, she continues to wait for the day her son can finally join her in Northwest Arkansas. Her perseverance reflects the ongoing global need for resettlement and the importance of keeping our doors open so we are ready when that day comes.
As we celebrate this 10-year anniversary, we invite you to reflect with us on the impact of the Canopy community and the hope that guides our future.
Regards,
Joanna Krause Executive Director
