On Friday, June 5th, a federal judge struck down policies that had stopped the processing of green cards, asylum cases, work permits, and citizenship applications for people from 39 countries.
For months, people who had done everything the system asked of them sat waiting with no answer and no path forward. The court called it "indeterminate legal limbo." We call it the daily reality of the families we serve.
At Canopy, we do not follow these updates from a distance. Every policy change has a face and a name attached to it. Every ruling, every pause, every reversal lands in someone's kitchen, in someone's workplace, in someone's waiting.
This is good news. Careful, watch-and-see good news. But good news.
We are grateful for every advocate and community member who keeps showing up for this work.

Every June 20th, the world pauses to honor the strength and resilience of refugees, people who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or disaster.
Join us at Fayetteville Town Center on June 20th anytime between 10am and 2pm to celebrate our neighbors who have begun a new chapter in Northwest Arkansas, and to learn more about the heart of Canopy's work over the past 10 years.
Enjoy international food samples, handmade goods, henna, music, face painting, and kids' activities, all while connecting with the people and stories that enrich our community.
