Greetings! I trust you are well, and I hope your July came to a good end.
As we wrapped up July, I was reminded of the important work of refugee resettlement. It was 75 years ago, at the 1951 Refugee Convention, that the term "refugee" was first defined.
Our hope is that the United States will continue to provide a path for those most vulnerable in the world to find safety.
ON THE LOCAL FRONT
We are grateful for the community partners who came alongside us in recent months. These have been beautiful reminders of what welcome looks like when a community shows up.
We are thankful to Ozark Natural Foods for considering Canopy for their Community Change program earlier this summer.
We had a wonderful Chai & Chat event, our quarterly public gathering, at Crystal Bridges Museum. Many new faces joined us and learned about Canopy for the first time.
We also held our Young Entrepreneurs Program Pitch Competition, following a series of Young Entrepreneurs classes. It was a wonderful way to build confidence in our younger generation. Thanks to the youth, their families, the local businesses who opened their doors for them to visit, and interns who played a vital part in this journey.
And we are grateful for our partnership with the Fayetteville Public Library on The StoryWalk project at Gulley Park, open until the beginning of September. It is a creative way for our new neighbors to see themselves as part of the fabric of Northwest Arkansas.
