Greetings!
The Canopy team has had an exciting and active October. We were thrilled to welcome 24 new individuals to our community, and our staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition. It was a true month of unity and connection. We’re also grateful for the many Welcome Kits we received, which helped us furnish homes for our arrivals in Arkansas.
We recently celebrated Culture & Community Celebration at the Jones Center alongside our friends from across Northwest Arkansas. Ten countries shared their delicious cuisines, and countless meaningful connections were made.
In October, Canopy participated in the I-49 Workforce Summit, where we shared our mission and work with partners in the region. We also enjoyed hosting Stephanie Saldaña for a book talk and insightful discussion on her work, What We Remember Will Be Saved.
We were thrilled to celebrate our colleague Lemine M’Bareck, who was honored by Arkansas Access to Justice for 2024, in Little Rock in early October. Additionally, some of our colleagues and clients participated in a panel discussion at What We Carry — a visual narrative exploring the experiences of those displaced in search of belonging. The exhibition will remain at the Fayetteville Public Library until December 27th. We encourage you to visit and explore this powerful showcase.
As we enter November, we encourage you to make your voice heard by voting. At Canopy, we believe that refugee resettlement is a critical system designed to meet our nation’s needs while serving as a humanitarian response for some of the world’s most vulnerable people.
Please take a moment to check out our upcoming events in November. And as we approach the end of the year, stay tuned for exciting news.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering support. Your generosity—through financial contributions, volunteering, building Welcome Kits, furnishing homes, and donating household items—makes our work possible. We are deeply grateful to have partners like you by our side.
Warm regards,
