Canopy Northwest Arkansas | December Newsletter

Dear Friends:

November has been a remarkable and busy month for our team at Canopy. We successfully resettled 32 individuals including a husband and father reunited with his wife and children after nearly two years apart, an Afghan family who finally found protection here in Northwest Arkansas due to years of supporting the United States, and the relatives of other families who resettled through Canopy years ago. These brave individuals and families are now starting new chapters in Northwest Arkansas, and we are honored to support them in their journeys.

Earlier this month, I had the privilege of visiting our representatives in Washington, D.C., to emphasize the critical importance of refugee resettlement to our nation. I shared stories of the warm, welcoming community in Northwest Arkansas and invited our representatives to witness firsthand the impactful work we are doing here. Their engagement and understanding are key to strengthening the support systems for refugee families.

None of this would be possible without you—our friends, supporters, and champions. Your generosity fuels our mission and allows us to extend the warm embrace of Northwest Arkansas to those who need it most. As we approach the end of the year, we kindly ask you to consider Canopy for your end-of-year donations, beginning tomorrow with Giving Tuesday.

Your support is more crucial than ever. Looking ahead to January, we recognize that the direction of our work will depend on decisions made at the national level. Regardless of what lies ahead, we remain steadfast in our mission: to create a community where refugees are not only welcomed but are equipped to rebuild their lives and thrive in this beautiful corner of Arkansas.

Thank you for standing with us, for believing in this work, and for making it possible. Together, we are transforming lives and building a more compassionate and inclusive community.

With gratitude,
Khalid Ahmadzai
Senior Director of Community and Economic Development

Thinking of leasing your property to a refugee?
